Creating an online website is pretty easy these days because there are so many templates from ecommerce websites offering this service or package. One of the hardest things we had to do was coming up with a creative trademark logo for RuvaAfricWear.com, in this blog we’ll discuss some of the challenges and thought process that went into creating our final logo
Once we picked the name, which was pretty easy and was probably agreed on in-between television shows, the next step was to create a logo for RuvaAfricWear. We had different ideas of what the logo should be and in our heads the logo was perfect until we tried putting it on paper or on the computer. The more we talked about the logo and bounced ideas off each other and with other people the more we realized that there is no such thing as a perfect logo. The logo will never convey or represent all the things we want it to or our company values but it can hopefully be an imprint in our customers’ brains.
We played around with logos that had the map of Africa or that had a flower and we realized that was too cliché. We also wanted something that illustrated African art and fashion but it was very had to come up with just one symbol for that. We created over 15 different logo designs not including the different versions of the same designs before we settled on the RuvaAfricWear logo. We think the final logo symbolizes who we are and illustrates African art and fashion from the motherland.
Alternative logos will be featured on our RuvaAfricWear t-shirts soon and for years to come. Even though these logos didn’t make the cut we feel that they’re still a big part of us and don’t want to just toss them away.
In our next blog we’ll talk about the buying process and some of our relationships with our suppliers so stay tuned. Thank you for shopping at RuvaAfricWear and we hope you come back soon!
